I really want to! But on my little cricket with a concentrator? I don't get any color out of boro, just green-blue dark mud. Even the amber purples don't like me.

Steffi,
Your Cricket, even on a concentrator produces plenty of heat to strike boro. Also, you don't need to use striking colors for those wings.
I did this piece on a Mega Minor on a concentrator. The Cricket is a much hotter torch. This is amber purple over star white:

As Otter has said, you should have no problems. Read the numerous threads on this here and concentrate on flame chemistry and working the glass hotter than you really think you should. I am just learning the very basics of boro color and these two guidelines have helped immensely.

Otter here is my first attempt with your wing tut. I am very new with working with Boro and feel I am not a qualified canidate to show off your fantastic instruction but here goes. This was also my first time using the Mia Tia

Oh heck no, it looks fine to me, I was just yanking your chain. The vent looks great to me!

Not to go off topic, but I was just curious, where do you have your makeup air source? I've been wanting to try setting up a funnel system on my bench but was told that the replenishment might be a problem.

Tom,
I actually have a very large door I open about 12 away diagonally from my work surface. I am currently making plans to bring in duct work under the table. Still from the same wall the door is on.
I can burn a bundle of sage on my work surface and you would never smell it in the room. My water can is about 8 inches behind my ventilation funnel and to the side... even any steam gest tucked right out. It really is a very efficient system.
I will try and get some pics ans send you them in a PM, give me a few days.

Nice video Otter. Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind my asking, which GTT torch is that?

Snakebite, I am using Boro COE 33. That particular torch is a Bobcat. I have a bigger torch but I like working on my Bobcat. I also teach people to cross over from 104 to boro and I like showing that smaller torches are fully capable of working boro and striking color.
I also teach 104 off mandrel techniques and I have made these wings in 104. I have not made them on a HH but there is no reason you cannot. Just scale down a little bit, be mindful of your heat control and where your flame is touching the wings.
Good luck and have fun!!
