Default Zimmerman Yellow Orange

I know Zimmerman glass is long gone but I have a bunch or their Yellow Orange. Z-79C.

I made some simple rounds today and it came out with an Orange core and a yucky yellowish outer layer.

Does anyone have any working tips? Should I be striking these beads?

I've never played with Z yellow-orange, but I will say that if you're not getting the color you want at the hemisphere of the bead, it's because you worked it too long or too hot. Get the whole thing really hot again and restrike.

I think that effect is really neat, some of my favorite orange glass does that. But I agree it's a striking issue. but if you want to really avoid it, not all of the oranges do that.

Thanks for the answers.

And here is the result of striking!

Apparently the image is too big. And I can't figure out how to shrink it.

I keep a copy of this in my email drafts folder because I can't ever remember how I did it last time so I just copy and pasted it here;

This is the way I upload pictures and it does the resizing for me;

Click the "Go Advanced" and then type in some words describing your picture.
(You will need more that two letters in order to get the system to upload anything once you click 'post'.)

Then click the paper clip symbol above the -typed entry box- next to the white smiley face.

A "Manage Attachments" box will come up.

Click the first "browse" button (the button says "choose file") and when the computer puts up a file listing, direct that listing to the folder where you are keeping the picture you are trying to send and then click the picture or the name of the picture you want to send.

That will take you back to the "Manage Attachments" box where you will see a written word -path- showing the directions to the file you are trying to send.
(I don't see that, but there is an "upload" button that when I click it it does what you're saying next)

Then you need to click the upper "upload image" button.

This next part is confusing but don't let it throw you off.

The last click you made will dump you back to the -typed entry box- but it won't show anything at all besides the words you had already entered.
(you have to hit "close this window" for that to happen)

Now scroll down to the Preview Post button and click that.
Your picture should now be visible on the top of the page.

Once you click "post" it should show up in the thread (the button says "Submit Reply")

shrinking it could be any editing program for photos and resizing the pic.
