Default Slight Problem

Ok, so I made 2 beads on one mandrel as per usual , same base cane, same frit, Amazon Bronze, so can anyone tell me why on one bead the frit is brownish and on the other bead it has turned lovely pinks and purples...
What am I doing or not doing.. helllllllllp

Which one turned pink the first one or the second one you made?

One of them picked up the heat and spill over flame from the other probably.

It was the second one, firstly I make 2 small beads, then I add frit to one and melt in, and then frit to the other and melt in. Then I wrap both with clear, and melt the first and then the second, then strike the first and then the second.. finished..

it could be.. one was hotter that the other, or the flame chemistry varied slightly between the 2 beads because of the distance between the beads

I think you're probably right there - more than likely I wasn't whistling Dixie with one bead and only had one foot on the floor with the other Dont you just love boro. Anyway I have decided not to fret about it and just get on with it.. LOL

I agree with Tom when you make two beads side by side the first one gets the flash over heat from the flame when you are working on the second. You could try and make them farther apart if that don't work you will have to go back to making one on one. I use to do multi beads on the mandrel in soft glass but that glass usually doesn't react to the flame chemistry like boro does.

I make earring sets all the time with 2 beads on the same mandrel.
But I always match up the first bead I make with another first bead that I make on a different mandrel. I find the first bead is striking while the second bead is being made. I just know that this will happen and I make 8 beads... 4 mandrels= 2 styles. This way I have 2 different tones of beads without having 2 different recipes.
This happens to me all the time......
