I've encased Clio with Super Clear since it came out with no problems at all.

Hmmm? I just saw something from someone else about Clio cracking with Zephyr for a few people, maybe it's the Clio batch? Just a thought.

er, and zephyr was going to be my next try. It's just happened a few times but it is always on a bead I really like...

If Clio is cracking with Zephyr, I think Jed would like to know about it so that he could find out why.......

It was a comment from a few people on Sarah Hornik's Lampwork Beadmaking Tips FB page. They were discussing clears and it was mentioned there. I am not positive that Clio is the culprit, but since it has come up in 2 encasing threads one used Zephyr and the other Effetre, it makes me wonder.

Did you use only Clio & Effetre clear?
Or is there another glass involved?

good question Elke. I've had problems with cracking but only when I use a base of transparent red, encased in clear, encased in clio and encased in clear. Yes I used Zephyr but I don't thing that was the culprit. The cracking issues were only with larger pressed lentils and along the mandrel line. And, the cracks didn't appear right away.

Is it possible your red wasn't completely encased? I've had cracking problems when Clio touches the base color.

In this case there was some silver foil - red/clear/foil/clio/clear. But I have had trouble with a few simpler ones of just clio/clear.
