Double Helix rods????
I've been trying to order some rods from their website... but there are not links to order with? Does anyone know anything about the glass and how to get some? There must be a trick I don't know about! Shari Barry, Maya Designs

I had the same problem. I hear they are completely out of glass, so I guess we should just keep checking back.

I've emailed them twice querying the shipping price.... but have never heard back.... the system is trying to charge me $63 to ship 1/2 pound of glass to Australia.... total madness! I really want the glass but won't pay that much to ship..

I got an e-mail late this morning saying they were posting some on the website... haven't seen a thing yet... so I have NO idea I wouldn't pay $63 for shipping either!!! Good luck. Shari

Wow! I had no idea it was THAT expensive. It's nice, but not THAT nice.
I've finally got the hang of raku. I think I'll play with that instead.

I have a 1/4 pound but I am scared to play with it because I paid so much for it. LOL
I also have some streaky sapphire that I am afraid to waste too. LOL
I am such a dork. I have all this glass around and I just admire it and use the regular stuff.

Oh, Christy, I feel your pain! I'd be afraid to play with it too! I remember someone saying that they have tips on the Double Helix website on how to use this glass. Give it a read and then start with a small spacer. That shouldn't waste too much glass.
Good luck!

They have a mailing list on their site and they'll let you know when more glass is ready for selling!
And for the love of God if you've got some play with it!!!!! That's why you got it!!!

Mine came today, and I had a really good time with it! IMO, it's worth $20 for 1/4 lb.

Oh Gawd it is SOOOO worth it.
Don't sit on it girls... use it and love it!
Glass doesn't do any good just sitting there... lol.
Here's a quick example of a nice effect I got.
Just thought I'd throw it in there!
This bead was a double treat for me as my raku totally POPPED and
the double helix done me good!

Joanna,
That's one gorgeous bead!!! Is it done with Kronos or Olympia Rain? The colors from the raku are stunning. My Kronos came yesterday, and I can't wait to sit down and play with it. Any words of wisdom?
Thanks,
Carol

Carol. This is Olympia Rain.
Words of wisdom??? Well, I'm no expert nor do I claim to be, for me it was all trial and error with the double helix, but once I figured it out, it was easy.
When I use it, I find that layering it over other reactive glass works best for me, ie: turquoise, raku, etc. Once I have applied the double helix, I take it out of the flame to cool slightly, actually, pretty cool... then slowly introduce it back into a reducing flame and I get results.
It seems to me that it likes to cool off and then be reheated to do a dance for you! lol.
You'll figure out, trial and error!
Good luck.

Hi Joanna,
How think are you layering the double helix? Is it thin?
Thanks, Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth... yes, a thin layer, especially when I use it with raku.
It doesn't need much. It's fun!

Thanks in advance,
Shelley

I'll be watching this thread along with you. I can get that Arancio Perfecto to strike but can't do a thing with Kronos or Rain yet

To get mine to do it's thing, I layered the Kronos over trans. cobalt and some silver leaf and melted it in. Then I turned down my oxy a bit and rotated the bead about 2" from the torch head in a propane rich flame for a few seconds.
