Default somethings wrong

I have only been making beads for a month but I have never had this problem before. I am using a HH with Mapp. I made 3 beads today and two of the beads aren't shiney. The texture is really rough. I could tell something was wrong while I was making them. It looked rough in the flame. What am I doing wrong all of the sudden?

What kind of glass were you using? Maybe you're getting some devitrification?

I was using the same thing I have always used. The one bead was Moretti ivory base rolled in frit that I bought at my class. The other was Moretti white and purple for flowers. That was the only part of the bead that was rough was the two flowers I put on it. The base was Moretti light blue.

Could the purple be EDP (evil devitrifying purple?) That'll do it, if you cook it too much.

I betcha it's 254 purple aka Evil Devitrifying Purple. I had the same problem with purple as a beginner. It went whitish and matte. I have read that it likes to be in the flame hot or out of the flame completely (?) and there is a great tutorial by Ingridh over on Wet Canvas on how to work it, but honestly I was so fed up with EDP that I've never bothered to go back to it after the first botched beads. Some people have the magic touch though, and then it is a gorgeous color! Maybe others can give you better tips.

And Ivory + 96COE Frit pretty much always = Yuck.
(it will do black lines, make mud, etc. Ivory & frit are just not friends most of the time)
Try your new frit on WHITE, or sky blue, or clear to start. Or look up any of the many "frit" threads here on LE (there's several dozen--most of them have a huge list of links to *other* frit threads in one of the first couple posts )

Thanks everyone for your help. I will try to make a bead without the purple and use the frit on white base bead as suggested. So many things to learn it's giving me a headache.
