Default Share your (basic) wisdom!

Hello!

I've been away from the torch for quite a while, and I'm hoping to pick it up again soon. I figured I'd try taking a studio access test before I wait 3 months to take the next class available at the arts center by me, but I'm a little worried!

I know the very basics (POOP) the no-brainers (don't eat the frit), and the group studio social skills (don't poke people with glass rods). I'm assuming in a shared space where I'm paying for time, I probably won't have to switch out the tanks, so the hooking up of hoses that was most of my last glass test won't be covered.

I guess my major question is: what might be on that test? I feel like glasswork is 90% muscle memory, but maybe I'm crazy!

Any advice is very appreciated!

Warm your glass rods slowly in the back of the flame.
Lay your used glass rod down with the hot tip away from you.
Quench steel tools that have been on hot glass or in the flame.

All of the above have been a cause for discord in group situations I've been around. All can cause someone else to get burned if you don't do them.
