Default How to Make Boro Dragon Pentants

This tutorial explains how I make my dragon pendants and it's now for sale in my Etsy store. It shows how I make they eyes, the head and the dichroic belly for this type of a dragon. I use off mandrel sculpture techniques and borosilicate glass to make these pendants.

If you combine this with the information taught in my Dragon Wing tutorial you will learn how to make a dragon pendant similar to this.

Thanks!

Josie, if you are comfortable working off mandrel the information you learn here could also be applied to soft glass. It's just a matter of the skill level you are currently at.

i'm even avoiding production work to make them... got my time down to around an hour and a half, with only the eye cane premade...

Since I'm having printer problems DH printed mine out at work. I'm gonna give it a go here in a minute or two.

ETA - well I made my 1st dragon. Roger I think I'm gonna be sending some questions your way. It was fun and much easier that I thought it would be. Not that my dragon will look great, but once you get one under your belt it is that much easier to do more. Now I need to get back to stuff for my holiday open house this weekend.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there seems to be a glitch somewhere between Etsy and paypal and a few of my customers have let me know that they have sent the payment and received a confirmation, but the payment doesn't go through to my paypal account. If anyone who has purchase this tutorial hasn't received it yet, please contact me and I will get things worked out with you.
Thanks,
Rog..

Ok, paypal is working again.

There have also been a few of you asking if the techniques taught in this tutorial can be applied to soft glass? The answer is yes, here is a dragon pendant I made yesterday using soft glass and a minni cc torch.

I worked the soft glass using the same steps as I would for boro and the only adjustments I made were to use a cooler flame and I used a stainless steel chopstick for a punty instead of a boro glass punty. It's all just a matter of your skill level and weather or not you feel comfortable doing off mandrel work.
If anyone needs a few pointers on this, feel free to ask.

Ordered dragon and the wings. Playing with boro now. I will compare to the one I bought from Pipyr. I haven't tried those tutorials either. I am a newbie at boro but have been doing soft glass for several years so I am hoping I will do well. Boro is like a whole new beast.
