what is this kiln used for?
i have recently seen this listed on a site for sale and was wondering what the heck this is used for? i thought it might make a cool er hot rod warmer. I couldnt find any information about this or what it could possibly be for, anyone here have any ideas??

It's an awesome rod warmer! The original use is as a heater for hair styling - like here:

They have them at a much better price at devardi, they are back ordered now and will be in soon.

I would make sure the Devardi one is UL Listed before buying it.

I think there are two different models, quite similar to eachother, but one is a little bigger. Not sure how you would tell them apart unless you saw them in a store.... Sally's Beauty Supply used to have a bigger and a smaller, now they only seem to be carrying the bigger model...

The smaller flat top one is preferable to me. I use the top for flower petals so I don't have to futz around inside the compartment for small pieces.

Does it really work for shocky glass? I always try and preheat mine in the kiln at garaging temp (925 for me), but even after soaking for 15 minutes or more, rods like Anice White or Neptune and the few Devardi colors I tried, always explode no matter what.
I'm wondering if this is different? I can see how it helps for components, though.
