Default Any Suggestions for Reducing & Striking on the Same Bead?

I love this bead except for where I had to hit the murrini with some oxygen to clean them up, and the blue in the gaia around the murrini turned back to green. How can I have both?

That's a tough one, Angie . . . the only suggestion I have is to take advantage of erasing some of the reduction in Gaia. I do that all the time alternating reducing and oxydizing flame to get different colors on silver glass. So instead of just spot heating the murrini with the flame directly on it, try placing your mandrel parrallel to the oxydizing flame so the hole is closing to the torch face letting the "erasing" be more a gradual blend into the reduction. You may have to reduce and oxydize a few times to get the effect, as well as clean up the murrini.

Hope this makes sense!

Beautiful bead, BTW!!!

Thanks Hayley, a great suggestion. I guess I'm just too impatient. Will be working (a lot) on this. Also need to refine my skills to be able to accomplish this.

Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot.

Could you put a thin layer of clear over the murrini?

Try dotting pale aqua over the murrini instead. It doesn't react to fuming from silver glass as much as other transparents. That's a really pretty bead, btw!!!

Thanks for the clear/blue tip. Will try it as soon as I get over this terrible cold. Can only hold my head up for a short while. Didn't know about the pale aqua blue thing.

If that does not work, just reduce it. you can remove sections of the reduction when its cold. just dab it with umm whats that stuff... CLR or even etching solution, there is something else... an acid of sorts should do. just dab it with a q~tip. you could always cover the reduction with tape or something like puff paint for fabric and create a pattern too.

wow I love it when there is a good question! It always sparks my creativity!
