I've been wondering for a while why ABR can't figure out that there is no color company called 'Elvis'. Seems pretty lazy of them to not update their catalog.

I think we need to start a room or something that highlights new colors, recent colors etc. and how to work them; boro and soft. We have a boro room. How about a color techniques room?

How about keeping boro and soft separate. Very confusing as it is since most folks dont specify COE.

Good idea. Maybe a sub room under the Boro room and a new soft glass room with a techniques sub room.
How do we get the powers that be to initiate such changes?

#1 - ABR has a computer system that is deeply resistant to changes. I imagine it being like HAL in 2001 A Space Oddessy.
#2 - this forum was launched by soft-glass bead makers, so they tend to assume "glass" means 104, just like most of you boro boys & boro babes often think "glass" means 33. I get that from both sides around here, lol!

I think you just need to suggest it to CorriDawn. She's pretty open to suggestions.

ABR's web shop uses OS Commerce (the predecessor of Zen Cart), as evidenced by the tale tell "Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?" default greeting among other indications. I suspect that changing this text in the database is not an insurmountable task.... pretty sure it's not going to tell someone "Ross, I'm afraid I can't let you do that"... "1 row in set (0.05 sec)" would be a more likely answer. OS Commerce is pretty old and creaky though, no doubt.

Has nothing to do with the website...it's the in house software.
so sorry, we are anything but lazy though. this place is a zoo lately, record breaking order numbers for us this month.

Great... perhaps someone should update the website if it's not a software problem. If I was TAG, I know I'd think it was stupid that you couldn't get the name of my company correct, after 5-6 years. ABR even adds new colors as 'Elvis'. Someone is typing that in instead of the correct name, which doesn't sound like a software problem to me.

I just tried a sample of Queen Bee the other day. Still at the studio in the kiln. I'm anxious to see the bead. I do remember when trying the glass, my first thought was...OH, I'mma' need a pound of this one ;-D
I'll post a pic when I get it out of the kiln.

I can tell you for deep encasement it took two soaks at 1175 for 4 hours each to achieve this color.
I am totally in love with this glass, one of the knives I posted was queen bee as well.
I find that I always get heavy deposits on metal on the surface when using this glass on a bead so I have to burn it off in a really hot oxy flame. then it can be flame struck for those really amazing colors or as I just found out it will kiln strike as well

Yeah I just did a mib with queen bee dots on the outside and I just worked it like AP. hot hot, cool, flash through reducing flame.
Did some test beads and one bead went into the kiln a really pretty blue. Wonder if it'll stick?
