They do not ship to another country? Huh???
Actually, the explanation that it has to do with the ingredients sounds a bit weird to me...Iīve ordered different kinds of bead release in the US, and all of them, purchased from different companies, cleared customs just fine...there has never been any problem.
They were treated as "fluids"...but fluids in general are not restricted...only if they are hazardous in any way, such as poisonous, flammable, explosive...Therefore, if no ingredient of this bead release falls into that category...there shouldnīt be a problem. However, IF some ingredient falls into that category...I really wouldnīt want to use it....LOL...*kidding*...
A lot of other companies ship overseas all the time...and huge amounts of bead release are shipped to European vendors, too...Iīm sorry...but if that is their explanation...I donīt buy it...

Well, a fellow LWE member was kind enough to heed my pleas, and helped get two jars of Krag to me in Canada. It ended up costing quite a lot!! Oh well. The beads slip off the mandrel super-easy, which is where I was having trouble with my last few brands.
On the other hand, I only flame dry now, because if I leave a dipped mandrel sitting for any more than a day or two, the release flakes and falls right off! I'm also finding it quite weak on the mandrel. I have a thimble mandrel, for example (I love this thing!!) , and it has to be heated A LOT in order for the fat bit to get hot enough to hold the glass. If it's not quite hot enough, rather than the glass just sliding off the mandrel, it takes some release with it too. I've only made two thimbles so far, and quenched about 6. Very frustrating. Also in presses, it's all over the place, and I've destroyed a couple of beads by having the release become part of the bead.
So, all in all, if you're doing light duty stuff, not really working with presses a lot, and don't mind flame-drying only, Krag's a good buy if you live in the States. Otherwise, keep looking!

Thanks, Becky, for posting your experiences....
If it is like that, itīs definitely not what I need or want, because my beads are big and need to endure a lot of torture....lol...
Good to know, that thereīs no reason for being disappointed about being excluded from buying that bead release...think Iīm going to stick with BoM, which Iīm used to and LOVE...

KRAG mud
I have used the K.R.A.G. mudd for two years now and I can twist my beads off by hand. Sometimes I have to hold the mandrel with pliers, but it is still the easiest release to release It does have a learning curve. When the small bottles arrive sometimes it has seperated and stiring with a an 1/8 inch mandrel will help.
It comes in a great Nagelene type plastic bottle and shaking well before use is all you normally need to do. As far as staying on mandrels I have found that changes in humidity causes it to flake. If we are having crazy So.Cal. weather I just dip what I am going to use in a day or two.
Flame drying is great if you take the time to slowly... work the mandrel into the flame from the furthest out part of the flame. Rotating and moving in and out it takes about 20 passes. The instructions about only drying to a med gray is also important. Over drying to a full red glow is too much.
This release is not as mechanically strong as some so I needed to learn how to apply glass without causing a lot of pull on the release. It really helped me learn how to wrap my base. The same goes for marvering when the bead is soft all the way through.
Yes, it will flake on presses because it is basically very soft. I just have to be careful.
Over all this release takes a little patience and knowledge of how glass moves, but using the relaease improved my glass skills.
The great thing is you get a very clean hole and the release washes out of the hole with a very minor effort.
If you don't use it for a while it can lose a little liquid. Add water by the teaspoon full and shake until its the consistancy you like.
With the small jar I add a couple of beads to help with the mixing and to help keep the level up to the depth I need it.
Sorry for the long winded post. Hope this helps.
Sabrina
p.s. I did the double dip for about a year and I finally learned how to use the release. Now a single dip is all it takes

Hi Anastasia,
I don't know what the deal is with shipping but 2 years ago I've ordered some krag mud, got it, no problem (I live in Switzerland). I think it's a great release if you made small bead, but as soon as the bead is over 0.4 inch, it doesn't do it for me.
I'm addicted to BOM and the good news is:.... Frantz is selling it again, and I guess then a lot of other suppliers will too. So if it works for you, no point in looking for an other product....
(BTW, I love your work!)
