This is one of my favorite tutorials; every time a new Double Helix color comes out this is the first thing I try with it - some work, some don't, but it's always worth a try!

Gorgeous, Shelley! I swear, this technique never gets old. I love seeing what everyone does with it.

Ok so this is me not following the instructions, but they look awesome anyways so I'll post them.

This was made with silver frit instead of foil, so I got a neat speckled background. The silver glass I used tends more towards blues purples and yellows than reds, but hey it looks neat at least!

They do look neat, but I'm wondering what you mean by silver frit. Is that mica maybe? I'm guessing that is why you got a different look, but nice that it was a cool look

Has anyone tried this with Ossa? or one of the other lusters? That might be super cool.

Devardi sells actual fine silver frit (silver shavings). It is the bomb for alot of techniques ... I like it for sandy looking shorelines in beach beads.

Kristin I haven't tried Ossa but been having fun trying every other color of the rainbow. LOL

Interesting, thanks! I didn't know such a thing was available.
Would it be the same thing if I just cut tiny pieces off my fine silver wire?

The texture of it is more along the lines of what comes off when you saw through silver, I suppose you could make a bunch of jump rings and saw through them and catch the filings from it. (sawing makes the cleanest cut rings anyways, so not like it'd be a waste)

This is the tut I use to make beads as the "grand prize" for a contest with my students. They have to search up the best fun fact about the universe, galaxies, stars or nebulae. The winner one year was was this "there are more stars in the universe than all the words that have ever been spoken by the human race even if you count caveman grunts."

So THAT's what I have been doing wrong.

I have been sticking the hot bead in my ear and of course the twirling around in a circle and hopping one leg 3 times just comes naturally but I think that is because I am trying to dislodge the hot bead from my burning skin.

( I learned to hop up and down with my left ear down the third time I tried it.)

My Doctor just shakes her head and tells me I need to find another hobby.

Been away from the torch for way too long. I finally cleaned my studio so it was safe again and I made these yesterday. (please ignore the top 2) Most are Ekho, one was Clio, one or 2 were Skiron which went muddy. Ekho was the best.
