Angry Need Bead Release Recipe

Hi everyone,
I have made some bead release with 50% diatome earth and 50% kiln wash. It does okay, but you can not do anything heavy on it. If you do it cracks off the mandrel. Also it it sort of thick and does not want to stick to the mandrel without dipping twice and you still have to be careful when doing a bead. HELP, please I am about ready to put it to the curb. MIKE

I use kiln wash and alumina hydrate with a little bit of Foster Fire mixed in. You just have to put it into the flame slowly before you start wrapping glass.

Mike - just cut back on the DE to about a third or less. I've been making my own since 1991 with a similar recipe.
