What rod is this?
Got a bundle that was mislabeled as a boro mix, it ended up being soft glass and none of it is labeled. Started using this light pink rod and it turned into this.
Anyone know what this might be? Don't want to waste it on a silly project if it's something really good!
Thanks!

There was a batch of clear rubino several years ago if it's 104.
But yeah, it could be BE. Pink striker maybe?

Sorry for the delay! My internet went out as soon as I read the responses.
It's about 6mm in diameter. It really just looks like a rather pale pink, slightly purple, transparent. It looks more clear in the photo.
I wondered if it could be Rubino. The other colors in the bundle didn't seem to be that exceptional, although I have not tried them all yet.

I have a bunch of Rubino that's clear in the rod. Check tourmaline is light blue/purple in the rod & strikes to that pink color. Since it looks more clear, I'd have to say Rubino.

That's what I was thinking, but couldn't remember the name.
I've seen clear rubino, but I don't recall ever seeing any with that blue tinge, that's what made me think Bullseye. Could be Tourmaline, but that should be a larger diameter rod.

Probably Rubino. Reduce it a little and if ametallic sheen shows up that's what it is.

I used to have rubino that was a clear rod. So I would think it's rubino. In fact I've had rubino in many different toned rods.

That's a batch of Vetrofond Rubino Oro, I would guess. I use that a lot.

If it looks slightly lavender and turns deep pink, I think it could be lt. fuchsia from Bullseye. Rubino was clear in rod form.

Ahhh sorry to miss all of these replies! I didn't get emails and I did not get to check LE recently.
Thank you for all of your input! I will play with it soon and see if I can figure it out for sure.

Does Bullseye make 104? The whole bundle was 104.

It could also be Czech pink tourmaline. Either way it's usually pricey stuff.

I'm thinking maybe it was rods put together to make faux boro? There is faux recipe with Rubino, and thee is a thread with other colors if that might have been in the bundle too... Maybe you could identify the others, and match them up to a faux boro mix bundle to narrow your choices. It sounds like Rubino to me.

how long are the rods? Bullseye rods are longer than COE 104 rods normally.
Bullseye 4 to 6 mm in diameter, approximately 17" long
Effetre: 13" long usually they are either stringers or about 7mm.
Boro: approx. 20" long
that rod looks like Bullseye Cranberry Sapphirine or Fuchsia because it is so clean but there is no size comp so it's hard to tell. If the rods are approx. 7mm, it could be Rubino. a stringer compatibility test will help.
Pretty color anyhoo

Make a white bead in Effetre and then make several large melted in dots of the pink rod on this bead. If you see cracking after it is annealed, then it's not Rubino and it might be BE striking pink. Believe me, if it is BE the cracks will show up right away.

They were all the standard Effetre length rods. The bundle came from Hoy, and had markings for Boro on it when we got it, but it was obviously NOT once we started using some of the rods. So we threw the rest in with our class glass. I happened to pick this one up for a heart to try it out, and stopped as soon as I saw the gorgeous color.

wow, that must have been confusing…
it looks like Bullseye but if it is standard Effetre size, it is most likely rubino . if it greys in a reduction heat, it is most likely Effetre. Bullseye resists greying much more readily than Effetre.
regardless, it is a gorgeous color!!
