Default My Christmas gift to you.

This year has been very hard on me. I hurt my shoulder at work, and now they say I can't come back. I feel very bad because I couldn't send any SS gifts out this year.
While making a bead today. I notice that 2 colors looked great together on the bead.
So I tried mixing them with beautiful results. So here is my gift to all of you.
If you already figured this out am sorry.
Minc and light Amber = a beautiful shiney blue
Minc and dark amber = a darker shiney blue
Electric blue and Dark amber a pretty very dark orange brown.
Didn't try Electric blue with light amber will tomorrow my son has a
concert to night and he has solo's YEAH!!.
So Merry Christmas to all of you, and good bless.

Kim,

Thank you, Kim for sharing your positive results of these "glass combos." I'll definitely make a note of them. Very sensitive of you and a great Secret Santa gift- one from the heart!!!

Wish your son the best of luck with his solo tonight. "You go young man!"

Thanks Neomi. I just can't believe they turned out so pretty. Next time I think I will try more Dark Amber and a smaller amount of Electric Avenue. Hopefully it will make a lighter orange brown. So fun to mix colors. They all in up transparent. The electric Ave and the Dark amber just looks more solid. Thanks again glad you all like it.

Kim, are you actually MIXING the colors before making the beads or are you encasing the blues with the ambers?

Thanks!

CIM Mink sorry. No am not incasing, I am mixing them together. Very pretty transparents. The Mink and transparent amber made a really pretty transparent blue.
But when I took the dark orange brown stringer and made a bead, it look a really dark almost greenish blue. Tomorrow am trying more amber with Electric blue. I will try and take photo's tomorrow. Very tired from the concert and by the way his solo's were awesome.

I like mixing colors. It's fun. I don't have any mink. Guess I'll have to buy some!

I worked some on mixing the colors again to day. I do mine on an old mandrel. First I use my glass nippers and cut small pieces 1/2 inch of glass of what ever color. Say I want to mix, Dark amber and Electric blue or Dark amber and Ming. Then using pliers I pick up one of the small maybe 1/2 inch pieces and stick it on the uncoated red hot mandrel. Then I do the same thing with the other color on the same mandrel. Then get both pieces hot and twist, push and pull until both piece mix into one color. Just be careful and don't do it so hard and fast that you make big air pockets. When you have mixed well. Pull it like you would a stringer.(I use another old mandrel) only wait before you pull so it is thicker. Unless you want stringers.
2 parts electric blue(2 1/2 pieces) and 1 part Dark transparent umber will make a really pretty transparent blue. Ming will make transparent blue just not as bright. Play around with color combo's until you come up with a combo you like. Still confused on why when I mix Electric blue and dark umber I got a charcoal brown. Then when I did it the other way around I got the really pretty blue. STRANGE. OH well am sure there are tons of combo's that will produce beautiful colors. I also keep a log with the size, how many parts and the color I get. Helps me keep from screwing up twice. Ha! Ha! Have fun!

I appreciate the thanks. I apologize for my odd wording...I've been ill lately and slightly delirious.

I also forgot to thank cakelady for the heads up. Merry christmas all.
