Translucent Green
I know that I have inquired about a translucent green glass rods in Satake colors, but I am now asking if anyone knows of a translucent green glass produced by any other manufacturers in COE 104 or COE 96. Preferably 104. Here is a photo of what I am looking for:

How about CIM Peacock Green? That might work.

That is a good question, I would love to find some myself. I had a couple of rods, don't know where it came from, but have not been able to match it since...cim green is close to what I need, just not quite it. I will be watching for suggestions too.

Kandice, Poison Apple is very close. I still am looking for a color that doesn't go opaque when it feels like doing it. One that stays translucent. I do have Poison Apple, so perhaps I'll give it a try. I had ordered it after seeing it on your website awhile back. In the few sample beads that I have seen here and there, it appears to be a nice green, but all turned opaque.

Peacock is kind've like what you've posted, depending on which batch. Just make sure you anneal it really hot (like 980/990).

Aleta, maybe if you added some clear to Poison apple it would stay more clear?

I did a few comparison clips. The top set has TAG Boro Color "Slyme", my sample and then CiM Poison Apple. All of the snippits in the lower grouping are CiM Peacock. There appears to be more of blue tint in them. That TAG "Slyme" is a dead ringer for what I am looking for! I'm just not ready for boro, or at least I think I'm not.

If you can find Green Nile Opalino by Moretti, it stays somewhat translucent. (it doesn't get any more opaque, put it that way)
I don't know if it's extinct now or what, but it's a lovely colour.

Angie, I think it's still very much available. It is one of my favorite glasses. I have it in my stash. It does not match the photo though. Close, by not close enough. I do have some Devardi Baby Green. In rod form, it is an identical match. Once it gets the heat to it, it goes opaque and turns light colored. Bummer.
It seems that most translucents go opaque when heated. I'm thinking there might be a chance with Satake. I just need to find someone who works with all of the colors that Satake has to offer.

I have some Satake translucent green rods that I bought because I loved the color a few years ago but have never used. The one that is close to the color you want (as it looks on my monitor) is labelled 019 (on the left), there's also a bluer green (still pretty acid) that I have labelled 072. I have no idea if they go opaque though.
Any help?

To me there is a slight difference in the rods in the middle ...

Sadie, Thank you so much for taking the time to photograph those for me. All 3 of those shades are beautiful! I say 3 because the 2 next to the first 2 from the left, look a bit different. At least I have something to go by now.

I'm tending to agree with you Kandice. I always appreciate the work that you put into testing colors on your website. Your assistance with this color search is appreciated so much.
I am greatful to all of your for your assistance! You all rock!

Is anybody familiar with System 96 Uroboros Amazon Green Opal Glass Noodles? Paula (Flamedame) sells the rods. She said the coloor goes opaque after it is worked. I have never used the noodles. I'm wondering if they can be used like a rod, and whether they would go opaque.

Those are gorgeous, Aleta! You could always ask Paula directly. I bet she would know.
And thanks for the info that Green Nile Opalino is still available! Whenever I've looked for it I can't find it. I'll just have to keep looking.
I'm following your search with some interest, because I have a dish that is the same green as your vessel -- it's antique and I absolutely love the colour, and would love to replicate it somehow. I hope you manage to find the right colour!

I did message Paula about the rods. I'll call Slumpy's.com tomorrow about the noodles.
Frantz has the Nile Green Opalino on sale 35% off right now. Pricing out at $2.28 for 1/4 lb.
I'm hoping to see all sorts of translucent green glass options as a result of this thread. However, there are only so many glass manufacturers!

Green has never been my favorite color, however, ALL the greens on this thread are gorgeous.
Aleta, I can't wait to see what you are going to make!

Oh. Bummer! Those damn parrots. Someone should have clipped their wings!
I wish I had some to send you. I hope you find a suitable alternative.
I'm really curious as to what you will make!

I found this statement while doing a search for some photos of Parrot:
Quote:
parrot green (also known as Key Lime Green).
|
I have to agree with the author, because I have some Key Lime rods and I would lay odds that they are identical to the ones in the link of Mini's.
Here is a comparison of Parrot/Key Lime.

Parrot and Key Lime are distinctively different. I'll take some pix tomorrow. How much do you need? I might be able to spare some of one or the other. I think Lime is much yellower than you are looking for, and it isn't really translucent when worked up.
