I would think that making very small cabochons and then gluing them to a post would work. This could be done either off mandrel or on a cabochon mandrel. Also just making a marble/pearl shaped off mandrel bead would work as well. Hmmm may have to see if I have any stud earrings and give this a whirl.

you can use a 1/16" mandrel dipped in release. Then make a bead with only one hole on the tip. Either leave rounded on the top or shape any way. Marver the bottom around the hole flat or grind down a little after. Epoxy to post.

The other way I make them is to make a donut bead, not cool it 100% correctly so it splits down the center. Clean out the bead release, anneal ( or can be fused flat too). Then epoxy to a post. The perfect pair every time, because it is the same bead! If you use a bhb you can make 1/2 hoops. Just make itthick enough to hide the post flat.

These sell really well, and I have something to do with my broken beads!

making itty bitty cabs is a real pain especially two of the same size. I ( being a person who just LOVES to torture herself) bought a bunch of studs to try it anyhow lol

I've just glued the non-hole side of a small bead to the earring post then used a headpin inserted from the "top" of the bead to make a loop at the bottom hole which can then be used to hang "danglies" from. It actually comes out very finished looking while allowing you to make post style danglies from something besides a preformed metal ball post with loop.

you make a really cool bead, but when you are done you take too long admiring it and don't put it into the kiln fast enough. then when you pull it out it cracks in half cause it cooled to fast so you sand it down and glue the two halves to stud flats.
Ok that is how I did my set, cause I just wasn't willing to give up on the really cool bead I had made. Of course the first time I wore them some one else wanted them.
