Patty and Pat - those are so wonderful!!!

Minions were the #1 requested bead on the BOC page recently, so those are a good choice!!

We are chronically low on these beads, though this effort has made a dent in the backlog. We go though a phenomenal number of Act of Courage beads - there are a lot of very courageous kids out there and they need these beads. A big Thank You to everyone who is making this extra effort. I went back though my own bead stash and came up with another 50 or so myself and will be making more as soon as I can get back to my torch.
Thanks for all you do for Beads of Courage,
Robert

Thanks for the update Robert, I do always try to make some when I'm at the torch, but I'll double up.

Silly question, but what do you recommend for mandrel size? I usually use a 1/16, but can dig out my old 3/32's and see what I can contribute to the Canadian Cause...

"The 3/32" mandrel is preferred but other sizes are also usable."

I use 5/64 mandrels and asked about them a while back and was told that size was fine.

Thanks to everyone for the extra effort. I don't think that we'll ever have too many beads but you have certainly helped us at least begin to catch up on the backlog of orders.
Thanks for all that you do for Beads of Courage!

Robert, what about beads made on stainless steel bobbins? Are those acceptable? I'm making a bunch of beads to send in, and thought those might be fun. Do you still need the rounds or donuts?

Hi Tillie,
I can't see why those wouldn't be just fine and probably very popular. They sound cool.
Thanks
Robert

I get confused about the metals question, because we aren't supposed to have metallic surfaces on the beads.
Is it OK because the metal can be seen on the bobbins and the metal special beads from BOC that they are OK? Or the type of metals
in the glass?

I have 56 various beads ready to send, but will crank out about 30 or so bobbin beads tomorrow! Going to make some more hearts, too. My grandson is medically fragile and a "frequent flyer" to Santa Rosa Christus in San Antonio....his condition is genetic, so he doesn't get beads, but this is very near and dear to my heart, so will be sending beads once a month for as long as I can.

Robert, my heat control is getting better, but a couple of my beads look "reduced" at the ends. They weren't made of ANY glass containing metal...just plain old effetre. Are these still ok to send in? Also, any beads made with any silver glass on them are completely encased, so that should be ok. I'm excited to finally be able to send in some and help the kids in some way. I've got dotted beads, woogity shaped beads with wings, hearts, rounds, big, honkin' beads, turtles, big-eyed smilies, some with teeth, some without, a 7 legged octopus, an ammonite, some big flat beads, some bumpy beads, and a couple of worms so far. Hope they are all acceptable.
