Default My New Work Station

Some of you may know that we moved from VA to FL about 3 1/2 years ago. Some of you probably don't care. It's been almost 4 years since I had my torch set up and we finally got a room built onto the side of our house to encorporate my torch and glass and whatever else I can find that will fit. It's already too small. I will try to post photos and see how that goes. It's been quite a while since I've done any of this. Thanks go to Debbie at Pierces"Designs for helping me get on the right track.

This is looking into the entrance from the lanai.

Inside looking out from the back wall.

Kiln with a few pieces that I have attempted since getting set up.

Glass storage and other storage rolling shelves and a small heater. (Yes it does get chilly here in Florida)

Work Area with Vent tube going through the ceiling and roof. The fan is in the attic.

Looking out onto the lanai from the door.

The vent going through the roof. If you look closely you can see the tube through the window.

That's all I could get re-sized to fit the criteria for posting. The photo I had of my torch and work surface somehow converted from a .jpg to .xcf and I don't know why or how to convert it back. If I ever figure it out, I will post the photo.

Hereis the photo of the actual work area.

Yay Greg! Congratulations!! Four years is a long time to have to wait. I'm sure you're thrilled to be back at it!

Thanks everyone and yes I am excited to get back into it. I fell like I've forgotten everything I ever knew.

I love your old enamel kitchen table! My Grandmother had one just like it.

Nice work area, and nice surroundings too.
Now you get the fun of "learning" all over again, just faster!

Yes it is, but there is no heat up there. The fan pulls everything out.

It's a concrete/cinderblock wall. It's about 4-5 inches away.

nice room. Love the enclosed torch area. Michael Barley has a room similar.

I actually have two. I was torching about 4 hours pretty steady yesterday and the ceiling of the work station never even got warm.

Nice space! I always hold my breath when I look at these threads, but you have shown an easy feasible way to safely work with glass. I love your wooden hood, you will be glad someday when you are old that you did that, you will be a lot healthier. Now you can enjoy your hobby with the peace of mind that you took steps to do it safely. Good on you.

Thanks Mary, for your comments. This table is the same one I used in VA, but with a few modifications to fit the new work area. A lot of people refer to their work area as a studio, but I just like to call it my little place to play. By the way I am already old........but I want to get older.
