You seem to be able to capture the "souls" in the animals and birds. They really look like living, breathing creatures. I can't believe they're drawings! Keep posting. You are so talented!

I had a hard time getting started on a new drawing until I watched a show on zebra migrations. Work in progress,

I'm a little apprehensive, I've never done water before.

Well, thank you! I've got some updating to do.

Here's the zebras finished, A Confusion of Stripes,

And this one I just finished last night, A Predator's Gaze,

Next up is a tiger. I've been watching a lot of National Geographic Wild, and I see scenes and get excited, oooooh, that would make a good drawing!

Your work is incredible so glad I came in this room for a look. I have been taking black and white photos and drawings and applying them to glass tubing then it goes through a process of fuming and shaping. Let me know if you ever want some of your work applied to glass.

Thank you! Deb, I looked at some of your work. Really neat!

Phil, I sell some prints and notecards, but not the originals. I put too much time into them.

This is what I'm working on now,

Well they will be sold for a very pretty penny if you do decide to.

For work like this I would find the funds from somewhere.

I might have to win the lottery first but they will be worth several retirement accounts to those that have an inkling of what they are looking at.

My Dear, You are a mind reader of extraordinary skill.

I was just looking at this thread some 1 minutes ago and thinking I should ask you to give us an update on this gorgeous work of art.

Your work really should be in the major museums Betsy.

It is very inspiring to think that human hands can create such work.

Most of the kids I grew up with would not believe it possible without mechanical assistance but I know you draw these by hand.

You guys are so sweet! My personal feeling about it is I'm blessed to be able to do this kind of stuff, otherwise I'd probably be sitting in front of the boob tube with a hot/cool (depending on the season) mug of something alcoholic. This way I can keep my hands busy while my mind is busy listening to talks or podcasts.

Have any of you ever heard Dan Carlin and Hardcore History? He really makes history come alive.

I'm not sure what you mean. I use photographs and videos for reference, draw rough outlines in pencil and then use technical pens and crowquill pen and ink for the drawing. For the color drawings I finish up with either colored artist pencils or watercolors.

I know a woman who projects her photos onto the wall or canvas and then traces around the images so she can then apply color with pastels. She doesn't disclose her method of drawing to her buyers, which I think is misleading. I studied studio art and art history in college and free hand drawing was the only training allowed. Free hand drawing is drawing without the use of mechanical aids, such as a projector. If you are drawing free hand then you are quite gifted.
