Redbud tree-Has anyone tried to copy one?
We have Redbud trees allover up here on the mountain. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for the purpley-pink color of the flowers? They grow directly off the branches so I was thinking a light roll in frit would work but can't figure out what to use that would give the color and opaque shade. I use either moretti or uroboros. Thanks!

Purple Rose...or maybe Heliotrope by Reichenback I think? Whatever...if you can do it I bet it will be gorgeous!

We tried to copy it. Then the tree logged on to LE and
chewed us out for copying it. Threatened us with legal action.
Whole ugly drama scene.

Gosh, Karen, I thought you learned your lesson when the flowers started protesting your copying them. Now the Redbud trees! Will you ever learn that only Mother Nature has the copyright! Geeesh!
I third the purple rose recommendation. Don't you just love how the redbud trees seem to glow on a cloudy day?!

Thank you all for the suggestion of purple rose frit-now I'm off to figure out where to order it from. Probably by the time I've got it, the buds will be gone, but I've promised myself for the past two years that I'd give this a try. Thanks again!
Janice
P.S. My heart about stopped when I'd read about the trees and legal action until I figured out you where kidding. Whoo!

Our Redbud Tree
I forget if this is the eastern or western variety...It's ancient!
This is my first time posting a pic so I hope it works.
I'd love to see the beads you make! I think edp with gold ruby would capture the glow!

I'd make a tab bead with a pretty background (like in the last pic posted), and then make lots of small dots made of stringer from the purple rose frit. Or, melt a bunch of the frit onto the end of a similar transparent color and pull stringer to give the dots (flowers) variation and striation beyond what the frit has.
Beautiful tree!!!
(I'm thinking of dots similar to the ones on the beds Lori Greenberg has been making recently.)

The purple rose acts a lot like EDP and it will divitrify on ya if you aren't careful! It either likes to be in the flame or not in the flame, none of this waving back and forth or it will bring up the chalky stuff! Some people love that in organics though, me included, but if you are wanting that pretty purple that's what you have to do! Good luck and can't wait to see how it turns out!

Laurie, try a trip to Flamingo Gardens in Ft. Laud., they have incredible trees that bloom in the spring. Amazing flowers and colors. Or visit your local conservatory. Isn't there some fantastic park off A1A in Palm Beach or Boca?

How Does This Look?
Here's a similar color I used for a tree:
The flowers on the tree are a EDP encased in Ink Blue and then pulled into a stringer. The EDP reacts to give great variations between pink to deeper blues and purples.
Hope this helps,
Lloyd
