Bullseye Dense White
Is this glass known to be fussy? I love the idea of a dense white, but no matter how cool I work it, it scorches. Do I have a bad batch?
Thanks for your help!
Liz

Hmm... I don't recall it being that fussy, but I prefer Opaque White or French Vanilla and use those more.

Are you using it with pink? It reacts in a black way with the ruby mist. It also doesn't like the odd mint. I got hazing with it under Hawaiian Punch on Mint.

My French Vanilla is frit on a stick and reactive like Ivory. Opaque white is more opal than pastel, almost watery white - I want a true white white. I think the Dense White was OK with pink, but the beads are still in the kiln. I just kept getting black scorching, sort of like the liver spots Rubino can get.

If you are getting black, that sounds like a reducing flame. Check your torch chemistry and/or your make up air source to be sure you haven't burned the oxy out of the air.

I get hazing with all my pinks with it. So I just use petal pink instead.

Hi Liz!!
I had some grey-brown staining on Dense White. Turning up the oxygen until the torch sounded pretty hissy cleared it up!
