Red & Raku question
Whenever I try to use raku on red, the red darkens dramatically. I am assuming that this is normal, but I have been able to keep the red bright on occasion. Can you all give me some hints on how to keep the red bright?

I don't know, only used rake frit a few times so far, but I'm curious.
Is it possible that you had encased the red before adding the raku on the ones that stayed bright?

Raku turns red brown due to the reaction of the two. Since raku spreads a lot, the more you melt it in, the more reaction you will get. If you use raku as a raised decorated or just barely melted in, the red should stay bright.

This is Raku frit on Eff Dark Red. This is the only time I've used it on red, and it didn't appear to affect the red at all. Then again, on a HH, I wasn't about to scorch the beads beyond recognition, either

That's what I also used, and purple red, but I was on a HH at the time also. Haven't tried red and raku on my new torch sorry.

I have had luck using carrot red (which is really orange), and when it darkens after melting in the frit, it is a nice medium red color. It always seems like a bit of a problem combination anyway though, since to keep the red color I can't do much reheating or overheating, and without doing those things, I don't get much of a color pop with the raku.

Try using terra Frit instead on red.
