Vessel handles
Hi everyone! I'm having difficulties putting handles on vessels. I forgot their name but I have the tweezers that have the two fine ends closing together. Should I use those? I tried making small loops but only succeeded in distorting the vessel
Thanks
Duane

Do you mean Peters tweezers? That you could use to pierce a hole? Seems like it might work, but I haven't tried it. Good luck though.

Duane, there are a couple methods
1. Add a blob of glass, smoosh a little, use peters tweezers/handy andys, etc to open hole (makes a loop but is kinda sloppy on a vessel)
2. Build up dots of glass in an arch and melt smooth
3. Dab, stretch, attach, use a rod of glass, heat a small gather, dab it to the rim/shoulder stretch away and down, attach and burn off
Use a straight pick to straighten/enlarge loops

It's a delicate process..... I basically do what David did above (which is wonderful btw) the only thing I do is put 2 dots down first where I want the handles to start and stop. This whaat I know where I'm going or I will wonder my handle around the vessel somewhere. Lol
You can use a reamer or just a pick to keep it outstretched and keep it from collapsing or loosing its shape. A little heat goes a long way. Remember if this takes you a while that your vessel could crack if not heated.... This was the biggest issue I had before I became proficient.

I do like David said, but I try to use commercial stringers, or pull my own thick ones. Transparent glass is easier because it's stiffer.

Peter's Tweezers are good to mark where the handles will start and stop. The tweezers help make the pokes even on both sides.

As Per the Queen of vessels - Tink
Put down 2 landing pads
Touch your first part of the handle to the first pad and then go over to the next landing pad with your stringer
Flame cut and shape with a pick
Just my two cents.
