Default Iris Gold HELP!!

I just got some iris gold in the mail and I can't get it to do its magic! It doesn't look gold AT ALL, especially when I encase it. I see it reducing but it doesn't turn gold, just a greenish brown color, and it stops looking shiny if it's encased. HELP!!!

The gold shows up when you make the bead - add iris gold to the top of the bead (don't encase) - and then reduce the bead. Hope that makes sense!

Iris Gold will loose it's effect if encased, I believe. Pam (darling!) Pitts taught me to remember that REDUCTION glass needs FUEL - and you can remember this by remembering "REDUCTION = OXYGEN REDUCTION". If you turn down your oxygen source, and raise your fuel level in your flame, then pass the IG through it, you should see your gold bloom before your eyes!

Don't give up - you're just a knob twist away from success!!!

Also, Maria - if you're using a Hot Head - you can still reduce this glass!!! Check my tutorial on evoking the beauty of "Black Nebula" (or any other REDUCTION Silver Glass!) in this thread:

(Shameless plug, sorry!)
