Cathie, might I suggest to ask the maker of those beads? It's usually the preferred way. You COULD get into hot water for posting photos of others work without approval, don't want that to happen!!
But they ARE pretty aren't they?

I totally agree with you, but these bead were made by Unicorne glass and are mass produced. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on making them. I will play around with them today

Looks like a fume twisty over a dark color maybe, can't tell from the tiny pic.

as far as the shape goes, it looks like they are beads that once were donut shaped and then let gravity mishapen them. There is a technical name for them.

They look really interesting...but I can't make out the actual shape of each bead....can you enlarge the photo in photo editing and repost a pic? I like the way they look too and would like to see them clearer.

don't worry if you can't..no pressure!

I was shown how to make these once. They are not made on a mandrel. They use a jig made with a small piece of tungsten. they pull a small point wrap it arround the jig to produce the hole. So now you have the loop and it is attached to the entire rod heat the rod where you want to burn it off. grab the loop end with tweeezers and finish rounding it out by flashing it in th flame. after a couple hundred it is supose to get easy.
Clear rod with a stripe of color - the color goes on the inside of the loop.

I never found them to be easy. But I saw 10 made in about 12 min.

That they do, Cosmo, and yet people still buy them by the gross(pun intended)es!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's a class being taught at B&B this year using them as the major component.

Take your time with them to make them more durable and do a little something extra and they'll be worth a lot more than 3 cents a pop. Just one dot on each one would amount to a valuable effect in a whole strand and easily set yours apart from the usuals..
