What kind of crack is this?
This is a bead I made about 1 year ago. I noticed a small crack, that doesn't go all the way through. Is this compatibility?

It's pretty straight and right on the mandrel line. I'm going to guess it was a heat issue, that just becoming more apparent.

Yep, the heat on squished beads leaves the area around the mandrel quickly because the mandrel acts like a heatsink . Before going into the kiln that area should have a good soak of heat so this doesn't happen. Sorry it happened though
If it was compatibility it would look more like spider webs

Technically 10 minutes soaking time at the annealing temperature per millimeter thickness.
Sometimes it won't show for a very long time, then a sudden change in temperature or even altitude can cause it. It may or may not crack any further since the stress is released during the cracking. Corning annealed the MT. Palomar telescope lens for 18 months. That was the second one the first one was cooled to rapidly and they lost it.
There is also the possibility that the piece was dropped on a hard surface or struck sharply. I think you should seek the wisdom of a soothsayer for this one?
