Oooh. I unpacked all my new colors last night and put a rod of each on my work table to play with today.

The diamond from the jewel box is marbled avocado and the squeeze is honey crunch with a strip of silver swirled around with a little bit of Gail's Bamboo Thunder on top.

I didn't have any shocking/flying pieces with these two (warmed it up way up in the top), but I tried a little of the lime sweet and as soon as I put it in the far top of the flame to warm it a piece just dropped of but after that it was okay.

Also found out that in regular day light the lime sweet was pretty. As soon as I took it in the kitchen where they put fluorescent lights it was more brown!

These are Lime Sweet and Honey Crunch. Wish my Lime would come out like Vivian's--those were an amazing color!

San,
Even the way your lime sweet came out on these...they look pretty darn good to me
I played with each rod last night. The only shocky one was the marbled avocado but the color is sooo worth it to me
I love the honey crunch. Just such a subtle pretty fall color.
The lime sweet, I got some red in it but the strawberry was more greyish
Time to play some more but I'm loving all the colors wayyy too much!
They're so pretty on their own too.
Irene

Thanks Irene! I think they are nice, kinda neutral colors.
But to me they look more like the Jasper name that Glassworks gave them. Not sure where the Lime comes in...

Default Belgian lace/ sea shell pink

Well, I have ordered 500 grams of Belgian lace, and I certainly hope it is pinky cream and NOT lemon Ice! I got a similar colour recently using Light Ivory under Very Pale Amethyst and I was pleased with that.

Really? Yeesh! Even after annealing the honey crunch rods, no matter how slowly I try to sneak up on it I get about one inch pieces that fall off the rod as I try to wrap the glass on. It doesn't pop off with force...just sort of gently drops off in one inch increments. Argh!

Have you tried putting them in the kiln to prewarm? Just hang enough out the door to hold and go straight from the kiln to the flame.

Nope, I haven't tried that, Suzy. Thanks for the tip! Can I do this if the kiln has already reached its annealing temp? Or do I have to rest the rods inside before the kiln starts to ramp up?

Thanks!

Lil

Stick them in at any time. I have put them in when I first turned on the kiln and when I'm garaging. No biggy.

Wouldn't it be nice if, whenever we messed up our life, we could simply press " Ctrl Alt Delete" and start all over?

My honey crunch and marble avo drop off chunks even though I put them through a whole annealing cycle... but at least they stopped spitting glass all over the whole room!
