knobs and drawer pulls
I am looking for kits or basic components to make knobs and drawer pulls. I've seen some kits for the knobs but I can't remember where. I have not seen any for drawer pulls - but I am sure that there must be some somewhere...any ideas?

Burgard studios makes a great little drawer pull kit that you add a bead to, instead of building on the metal. If you decide to order some PLEASE pm me! I think I could use a few more, and want the price break!

Laura, Teague and Deanna - thanks for your links. These are definitely what I was searching for for the knobs. Quite a difference in price isn't it! Wow.
Beadbroad - I just signed up for an account with Burgard Studios. I was unable to see a photo of what they look like until I do so...so I am waiting to hear back from them...next business day I assume.
The drawer handle that I had in mind (I saw about a year ago) was really cool. It was constructed just like the old style that used to have the porcelain centers... The two ends could be tightened or loosened to accomodate a bead or beads anywhere from 2 1/2" to 4". That way - you could adjust for your clients needs...it was really neat and came in brass, gold plate or silver plate. You know how it is...you see something on the computer, write down the email address on a scratch piece of paper about the size of a postage stamp, put it where you know you'll never loose it and forget where that is!!!! LOL
If anyone else knows what I am referring to...would appreciate the info.

I don't think the Burgard ones have that much leeway, but I think it's the style you have in mind. They have other cool stuff too!

Artistry In Glass

(bottom of the page)
They are made by Nortel Mfg. The same people who make torches. They also sell the mandrels that fit with them.

There have been many threads on this in the past. If you do a search you will find many more options!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Paula...I took your advice and hit paydirt.
http://heritageglass.com has exactly what I was looking for. They come in brass and chrome. Basically you make your bead or beads the length you need to fit you drawer and then assemble the ends to hold your artwork. You can find them under "Fun Findings" for $4 each. As always...LE has come thru for me!

What I did: I got stainless steel nuts that fit standard cabinet screws (you'll need fine threaded nuts) and then had the guys at my hardware store thread 1/2 inch of a few ss rods to make mandrels. You need to have an old fashioned hardware store with a full service department for this option, or be able to thread rods yourself.
I do the same thing with fan pulls; standard 1/4" stainless steel fine threaded nuts work great as inserts. If you want to get fancy you can use an acorn cap at the end of the mandrel to make sure the glass doesn't move through the center of the nut and fuse it to the mandrel.

That is a great idea! And I'm sure - saving alot of money and time waiting for the kits to come in the mail. Thanks for the suggestions.
