Default New one-step crimping pliers

I just got an email from Rio Grande with a link to this tool-
http://www.riogrande.com/MemberArea/...er%20Pliers%21
Since I have been making bracelets pretty much non-stop for the last month, it looks like a hell of a good thing to me!

It works for me, Pat. Can you try it again?

I have one of these & I LOVE it! I was always crimp impaired before I got it. I found mine at Michael's and used a 40% off coupon.

I can't get the link to work, and I've tried about 20 times.

This does look really cool. Thanks for posting this info; I would likely never have known about it otherwise. And thanks, Vicki, for your comments since I'm always a bit skeptical about nifty sounding tools unless someone who has used it speaks up for it. Yes, this is going on my wish list too.

Nina, just go to riogrande.com. The one-step-crimper is advertised on the first page. If they take down the ad, just do a search on their site for one-step-crimper. It looks like a really nifty tool.

Yeah, I went to the website. I even logged in. For some odd reason, I can't see the video. I can even see other videos! How odd is that? I does look like a nifty tool, but I can't see it work!

Thanks, anyway.

Very nice! But from what I gather, it works best with 2mm and smaller crimps. I'm sure that after enough people buy this one they will see the marketing potential and make one for larger crimp sizes.

I'm just getting back into creating jewelry again, so it's on my list. Thanks for sharing!

I got one from Joanns, but quickly took it back. I hadn't realized that it only does the first step of the crimping process, the squishing the crimp bead in the middle part. It doesn't do the folding it over and rounding it part, which is the part that I actually have a problem with.

Looks like a good tool, but I am concerned with what you wrote Laci. Anybody else have it? Do you love it? Hate it? The video says it works for all sizes, but on their web-page clearly it is written that it does not. Kind of confusing (misleading) - to say the least. I'd loveto hear some user's comments.

It worked first time for me. I thought I might have to log in to Rio first but I didn't. Strange.

Hmmm ..... then what would be the point?

I'm hoping that others will chime in as well.

For anyone who might be interested, I just found this tool on sale at JoAnn online for $8.99.

Wendy, here is a link to a tutorial on how to close a crimp bead. http://www.beadaroo.com/techniques/view/closecrimpbeads I didn't know until a couple of years ago that there was more to crimping than just squishing the crimp tube flat, so maybe this will help some other people. The one step crimp pliers only perform the first part of properly closing a crimp tube, not the rounding part.

Thanks for the link. I actually have one of those crimping pliers too.

I have to admit I had always wondered whether just flattening the crimps was enough on its own. I don't make that much jewellery, but now I'm wondering how the bracelets I have made and sold will be holding up.

I have a pair I got at Michaels with the 40% off - they're OK. It's a bit of a pain to line the crimp beads up within the smaller jaw, and they snap down loudly - reminds me of ear piercing. I can't say it's any easier than a 2 step approach.

Oh, and maybe this goes without saying - they do NOT work if you're trying to crimp and your end is magnetic (I like using magnets on some of my bracelets)!
