Default Stupid newbie question- batch annealing...

I read about people "dumping" their beads in a bisque bowl or plate when annealing, which is what I was going to do.... can they touch? I have about 200 beads here and it's going to take a day and 1/2 to arrange them so they don't touch! LOL. A friend offered to anneal them for me and I'm going to have her do 960* for an hour, then ramp down 100* an hour to 700* and then let them cool naturally. This is in a largish, thick walled firebrick fusing kiln.

Thanks!

yes, you can put them in a bowl. If you have some that have been made with glass that has heavy metallic content, you don't want them to touch. ie. turquoise or copper green. I don't use a bowl, I just dump them on the bottom of my kiln. however, make sure your bowl and/or you kiln has a kiln wash on it in case of miss-fire you don't ruin your bowl or the bottom of your kiln.

I used to have a 'thing' about them touching, too. I used to clean them and string them on mandrels that I balanced between little bricks of kiln-brick. I don't think it was necessary mind you, just a quirk of mine.

Thanks! I only have a few with copper green and I heard iris orange is soft, too- so I will put those on a mandrel and suspend it across the rim of the bowl. I don't care about losing the bowl since I'm a potter I have oodles of them. My glass hive kiln is on order so this should be the only time I need to borrow someone else's kiln- yay!

Thanks so much for the advice!
