I have only managed to melt boro in the kiln once, and that was when my relays failed and the kiln went to max heat and stayed there for 18 hours. Even then, it didn't really melt all that much. It slumped more than it melted, and the colors were awful after it did. Maybe you need a extra heavy duty kiln to do it?

From a Google search....

"For the kind of flow you need the glass well past the liquidous stage and in full melt mode. From batch you'd need probably in excess of 3600, and from cullet probably at least 3000.

Also, phase separation and devitrification are serious problems with boro, MUCH more so than with soft glasses, so work hot, work fast, cool fast, and then anneal, don't let the glass sit at one temp too long.

2200 is good 2300 is better. pouring and fusing boro should be maybe 3000 but that is really hot boro and you have to have some excellent elements to be doing that."

I've melted boro in the kiln however, it was pure accident.

It's possible to fuse boro, the bigger problem is trying to control devitrification.

You'll need something a little beefier than the standard annealer though.
