Unhappy Spitting Torch???

This maybe a dumb question...but here it goes...I am on a HH with a 17lb. propane tank, 4ft. connecting hose. The only gauge on the tank is one that tells me the tank is full, half full, and empty. Well, in the mornings when I fire the HH up it sometimes spits and sputters and goes out. It does this three or four times before it burns steadily. Also during this time the bottom half of the torch feels real cold and then eventually heats up...and burns fine. I live here in GA. and I know its not the cold weather..78 today...SOOOOOOOO what is the problem??????

This may be what you are experiencing...

Once torch spits out all the gunk it may behave till gunk has chance to condense again (while torch is off)...
