Effetre Orion
I just got a new glass order and I purchased some Effetre Orion. Any ideas on what I should use it for? It is lovely. Should I use it as a regular transparent with colors or are there better yummier uses?

I freaking love Orion. Every bead I've made with it has sold almost immediately.
I use it for my ocean beads; some sort of sandy colour on the bottom half of the bead, Orion for the "water" and whatever creatures you want in the middle.
I have found it's best to keep the inside of the bead relatively uncluttered; don't add a bunch of stuff like twisties and such because the Orion has a thin green core, and the core will look like string wrapped up in all the other elements of the bead.
Whatever you make, keep it relatively simple wherever the Orion sits. It showcases itself.

I like to use it with frit in contrasting colors. I warm the rod then dip it in frit and warm the gather until the frit is melting and then wrap my bead. I also love to use it with my cattwalk jewel box press. It really is a great transparent and at frantz you can't beat the price. I think I have lbs of it

Would you please tell us the Effetre color number? I just received color names in Italian from my supplier for some new colors, and I am lost.
Thanks, Jim

I will post pictures when mine come out tomorrow. (kiln ramping down now) I dipped in a midnight blue frit, and some copper ruby. I think the midnight is going to look pretty cool. Not sure about the ruby. It was nice and smooth to work with. Love it already.

I find that Orion works great with silver foil. If you put silver on clear and reduce it, it turns a golden tan, which is nice. But if you put it on Orion and reduce it, it doesn't do that and I have even been able to get a metallic silver! It's really pretty for when you want that blingy background!

Thanks all! I am looking forward to seeing pics.. I can see another order to Frantz.
This glass is currently one-half price.

I made 2 tester beads with Orion and Midnight Blue frit. I obviously went too heavy on the blue, it blocked the lovely green threads in Orion but I still love the results. I took this picture with the beads under water because my flash kept washing them out.
