Default boro color journey

Come along with me as I try to figure out what the heck this base color is...

This is the photo I used in my etsy banner, and recently I have had a few customers ask me to duplicate them. Problem is, it was back when I wrote NOTHING down. I have 20 different trial beads in the kiln so I won't know til this afternoon if I've figured it out or not - but thought it might be fun to see if anyone can figure out the color I used. Anyone?

Well here are the ones that came closest to the color I was looking for. I will get better pics and post them with color names, just as a reference for anyone who might be interested. I think Peach Cove came closest, which I think is one of the ones on the left.

That left one looks really spot on Susan. Don't you hate having something crop up from pre-note days? A friend brought a focal of mine over from three years ago and wanted a set to go with it. Excuse me? Did I make that? LOL! I finally figured it out after two days. It was in 104 of course and I am rapidly forgetting all I knew about it because I'm mostly 96 now. My brain can't hold it all.

Thank you! It's made by TAG. It was an experimental, not sure if it became a regular color or not. I tried to check, but my computer does not like their site for some reason. Here's the link to their main page: http://www.taglass.com/

Drives me a little bit crazy! It's fun to be "forced" to experiment though, eh? lol

Okay. Here is my guess and I'm pretty confident. Base of white and then Mai Tai Pink and then the reactive blue frit.

My Mai Tai over white looks like that if I don't go too nutz cooking it over and over in the flame ... then it goes more purple wispy.

Default results!

Okay, here we go. All of the beads were made with a core of parramore white. I encased the left side of each bead, leaving the right side unencased to see the difference. This created some interesting effects that are cool to compare side by side, though really hard to capture in the pictures. The frit was silver flambe and a touch of butterscotch. I didn't fry the silver flambe frit enough - normally it gives me the colors in the original set.

1. singular passion
2. honey suckle (NS experimental)
3. sex on the beach
4. light purple haze
-------------------------------------

5. purple cream soda
6. tequila mixer pink
7. mai tai
8. peach cove
--------------------------------

9. tequila sunrise
10. tequila mixer green
11. fuschia fantasy
12. persimmon strike
--------------------------------

13. solara
14. apricot
15. firefly (NS exp)
16. silver strike 3
---------------------------------

17. tan silver creek
18. double mai tai
19. caramelo lite
20. magic mirror
---------------------------------

OK, from my monitor only, and knowing (as you are fully aware!) NOTHING about boro, the two that look closest to me are:

#7 Mai Tai and #11 Fuschia Fantasy

But, they are all gorgeous as usual.

Change your Etsy Banner quick LOL Put colors you do write down.
Looks like your getting a lot of beads done trying to figure it out.
They all look good!

I think it's so hard to do custom colors in boro, b/c even when you *DO* write it down, the color might not look the same the next time! Good luck... They are looking pretty, either way

That is so true, the stars have to align in just the right way for the color you are seeking to come out of the kiln!

Default Hard to tell

To me it looks like Carribean Coral or Pomegranate encased with light yellow but computer monitors and cameras can play tricks.

Good luck - you will have some beautiful beads as you try to find the "right" core color
