Default Do any of you date your beads?

I date mine...we go to the movies, the theater...lol!

No but really, do any of you put the date on your beads? I know some put their "signature". I think it would be a great idea. At least the year. Wouldn't it be wonderful, in 50 years to have a bead that has a "2015" stamped on it? =D
Also, are there any methods of doing this other than murrini or a stamp?

LOL, I was going to say that my beads and I have a platonic relationship.

I used to, until I realized that what I'm doing is not going to be in any museum or expensive collection anywhere, like some of the more well known beadmakers. I used a 'Ti' pen that I think I got from ABR a million years ago. Let me go google that and see. OK, looks like Mountain Glass has it for $17. It's permanent but doesn't damage the glass.

I put my initials and the year on my earrings and pendants with a TI pen.

I'm a dabbler, not an artist, so I don't have any aspirations of the things I throw together having any value. The people I give them to ( I don't sell anything ) like the idea that they are handmade and having them "signed" is a visual reminder of the uniqueness of the pieces.

But, "famous" or not, wouldn't it be cool for someone to know the age of your bead? Gosh, soon 50 years will go by and to see the old date on there would make it a real collectible.

Most of mine go into finished jewelry...eventually. Some wait a long time before inspiration comes, so I'm not sure I would want mine dated. It would be great on collector focals though.

400 years from now someone is going to look at that date mark and go WOW!

Imagine what the archeologists think when they figure out just how old some artifact is that they uncover digging around in soil that has not been disturbed for 2000 years.

I used to, but they always wanted to go dutch.

Seriously tho, I like the idea, but have never gotten around to it.

I used to put the year on my pottery, but stopped. I bought that pen but never use it, not sure where it is, and don't mark my beads in any way.
