Default Bead release recipe

Hello
This is my first post in this forum...
I used a bead release recipe I found in lampworketc. but it failed when I tried it yesterday. The release was shattered when put in the flame and the hot glass would not stick to the mandrel. Any ideas?
Here is the recipe posted by member : EaglesLegathy

5 spoons aluminum oxide or hydroxide
5 spoons Kaoline
1 spoon calcium carbonate
1 teaspoon graphite (powder)

I would also appreciate any other tried recipes because I can't import bead release directly to Egypt. Any liquid or dry materials are subject to chemical tests and inspection.

Wear a mask. This sounds dangerous!

Thank you Eileen. I will try this recipe and post results. We don't have ready made kiln washk that is why I do it my self out of Gypsum, quartz and talk (or kaoline).

I hope between everything, you find something that works and makes it easy for you to make your beads and get them off

Not sure if this is off topic or not. If so, I'm sorry. If you want a ready made... after making my own from Alice's (powdered -wear a mask) and trying lots of different ready made's, I recently decided to try Fusion (I'm sure many are familiar as I heard great things about it). It is WONDERFUL. I have to say best of anything I've ever tried. It dissolves in water with just a little rub and the beads come off easily with a couple of twists. I'm sure I'll never make my own again.

Thanks your advice. I purchased this product once, but to get it shipped to Egypt , it was a big hastle. As much as I liked Fusion, I still want to make my own release because of the difficulty of shipping such products.

You might be able to find kiln wash at a ceramic supply store. Bead makers used it for years before official bead release came along.
