Default I was playing with EDP and made a discovery

I will be back with pictures later.

not enough light right now...

I was making edp beads...not unusual for me...and as I made these beads gee...they were wispy ....not opaque EDP...they were pink but a mixture...
when I finally looked at the end of the rod...it was clear with a coating of edp.

Well maybe it was some odd glass and I only had one short rod of it so I decided to take some of the new moretti clear ...I can't tell you why I picked that...and

I made a gather of the new clear and encased that in edp.

OK NO MORE DEVITRIFICATION! I told Mike they are going to work on it to see if they get the same results

Normally you can't put edp over any transparent...it causes immediate devit.
but the new clear seems to stabilize the edp.

here is a picture...now I was just playing...nothing special other than no devit!

GORGEOUS COLOR! Wow - thanks for sharing! Unfortunately, I don't have any of the rods with the clear core.

NO I left this out....wait...I took a rod of the new clear...made a gather and encased in edp and pulled that...but I am sure you could make a bead of the new clear and encase it in edp and get the same results!

I'd try, but I gave up all of my EDP out of frustration. Those are pretty, but you're the EDP queen. Maybe I'll pick up just a rod next time I go to The Mandrel and try it out. I don't want to get too much if I'm going to get the same icky results. But damn, there's no other decent purple I've found yet.

That's what I'm gonna do later (assuming I get my propane tank refilled). I do have some EDP from different lots and unknown origin.

Default nothing special with vetro clear as usual

Just to confirm. I made 2 samples with edp encased over vetro clear and covering a vetro clear base and the edp reacted as usual - that is devited when reheated and didn't do anything special

IT HAS TO BE THE NEW MORETTI CLEAR...
edp on any transparent will devitrify....

but one more thing...I made an edp bead and encased it in the new clear and it didn't blanch....and it usually does...

here is the latest note... photo tomorrow when there is daylight...

I decided to try one of my signature beads large focal of edp....

it is difficult even for me to control the devit...

I tried it over this clear ........BIG bead....it did tend to want to divit but...

it came out ok...then I started to mess around with it until I ruined it...

but small beads... start wit that clear and encase in edp blend with edp...

sigh SDP! and no devit...

eventually I pulled a large gather of it... (WHY did I use the new clear? BECAUSE....I KNEW that it devitrified in contact with any other transparent...and I had the new clear here....

I also should tell you this new super duper clear? for me it bubbles a lot...so not so super clear but....great for edp .....SDP!

for small beads it is a breeze...remember you might have to go thru the process of letting the bead cool and then reintroducing it to the flame....

you can master sdp this way....

Honestly I don't know why the call it super clear...it is super bubbly for me...oh dear...I hope they didnt get something mixed up and it is something ELSE!

I will make another signature bead tomorrow

OK I haven't made one of my signature beads in years...even IIIIIIIII am intimidated when making very large edp beads...
but yesterday I decided to make one again. Let's see the first one didn't get off the ground...I let it cool too much and it broke...then then next two...I didn't handle the silver well and they were ugly....
then the 4th one was acceptable....

I can't say that there was NO devit....this is a BIG bead...so I did have to use the technique that I have in my edp tutorial....tho it wasn't a battle.
I suppose the edp would have to be a thinner layer to get the maximum benefit from that clear...I am not crazy about the leaf and that was the problem on the 2 of the attempts...
anyway....
here it is...

Wow Ingrid! That's gorgeous color!! So, is the 'new' clear just a new formula of clear? Does it have a different number that the original clear?
I recently got some clear from Arrowsprings...I wonder if it's 'new'. How can one tell?
Thanks so much for all your info...I for one have NOT been very successful with EDP, and I so want it to work!

I'm interested to know if anyone else has has success with this. I got rid of all my old EDP when I couldn't seem to make it behave and all it did was devit - argh!!! Now, as I understand it, the "new" EDP is quite a bit paler - any feedback?

Who has OLD EDP for sale? Anyone?
