Default Glass cracking, latticework

Hi there, i've just started lamp working. I'm currently trying to figure out how to do the lattice work, demonstrated in this picture (the base of the animal). I just about got the technique, unfortunately the glass keeps breaking as i get further up the pattern.

any ideas on how to stop this?

thanks, Jack

Use boro, or once you are done with a section NEVER put it back in the flame if you are using soft glass.
