Default Moving up to Boro, what torch/oxygen do I need?

My hubby and I want to move up to using boro glass but still want to continue with the soft glass as well. We are on a minor/oxy concentrator now.

We were looking at the unlimited Oxygen Tornado from LBSupplys for an oxy source:
http://www.lbsupplys.net/oxycon.htm
(scroll down to the fourth picture)

Here are the specs:
20 PSI - 10 LPM - 21.18 SCFH

Is this enough oxygen to work with Boro?

What is a nice torch to use that would work well with boro and soft glass?
We have around 500-600 budget for the new torch and about 1500 for an oxy generator.

And what is the kiln setting for boro? The annealing temp as well as the kiln cycle?

Oh and is there any other equipment, tools, we will need especially for working with boro? Will we need new glasses, we are using Auralens now.

Thanks for any info!!

Hi Jodi!

There are a lot of torch possibilities for boro. If your getting your oxy from Unlimited, talk with them. I chatted with them in Tucson and they definitely know their stuff and would probably have some good ideas about complete setups. And for annealing, there's a bunch of great info on the Glass Alchemy site.

If I'm not using unusual colors (some like it hotter) I keep my kiln at 1050. I know some colors like a bump up to 1100 or more. I tend to avoid them cuz I'm too lazy to reset my kiln. Look in my sigline for my setup. I'm very happy with it, though I know it could definitely have something hotter...but then again, I like being on natural gas, too! You definitely need better glasses. I work on the cheap so I just use welder's shade #4 clip-ons.

Hugs to you and Mark!
