Post sandy glass

Can i make a bead and use sand as a sort of frit to create a different texture? The only thing is it might be kind of like mixing COEs and have a disastrous effect thats what im scared of. So has anybody ever done this before and if so how did it come out? And what sand is the best to use?

Do a search on here Mike - there a few threads about using sand. The one thing I remember reading is don't encase it...
