Does anyone know the coe for seed beads both older antique French and Italian beads as well as contemporary Czech beads?

You would really have to do some testing, fuse them onto various coe clear sheet glass then check with a polariscope

I understand they are all over the place with their coe's
Are you planning on melting large quantities or just using them as frit?

I have a lot of these old beads that I use in my art, mostly French that came from the same factory. I cull out a lot because of inconsistencies of size or shape. The colors are great and hard to find so I hate to just toss the glass out. So was thinking of trying to melt them and use to make larger beads. I´m new at this so not experienced.

About the French ones, are you talking about the Salvadori seed beads, made near Lyon? They made those beautiful moon glow type pinks and purples.
I have tried melting these as frit into clear 104 glass, and did not work out, cracks all over. Could be my newby skills, but I think their COE is not 104.
About the Czech ones, I would think you may have more luck with those. I think the glass used for the seed beads comes from the same factory as the glass for the lampwork rods. Then again, the Czech lampwork rods are not all 104 either.
However, making them into single color beads should work out, I'd think.

I´m not sure about the factory name. Only know they have been out of business for years. They did make some nice pastel purples and pinks as well as a pumpkin yellow that I´ve not seen from any other place except some old Italian that are close. I have enough seed I could make whole bead of the melted down seed beads. I am wondering if the colors from the same factory could be mixed. I am new and just getting started so have no experience. I guess I could do some testing to see if the colors will be compatible.
