Default Value of First Run Aurae?

Hey everyone!

I have a half-pound of first run Aurae - the medium amethyst colored one - bought when Aurae first premiered! (I should probably clarify to say "re-premiered", being that it was a test color dubbed "Pinky Purple Luster", then when it came out in early Feb/09, it's official name went from Aura to Aurae - whew...that should cover it!) I've not tried it yet - and before I fall in love, I'm thinking I might sell some to purchase a Catt Round Tab Trio (preferably gently used), which is what I really need to get my hands on right now!

I've found my invoice and I paid $20 per quarter; it was purchased from Bill Thornton/Moretti & More on Feb. 11, 2009.

I understand that there have been some slight fluctuations in the formula lately and that the first run of this glass is extremely desirable!

Do you think, even though it's only been a few months and the "newer" stuff is quite available, the value of the "First Run" has appreciated a bit?

I'm not planning on doing anything crazy, but I've also seen a lot of people who are looking for it lately I'd love your input on this one!

Here's a couple quick snaps; the bundle and a single rod. You can actually see little specks of silver inside the glass as well as on the surface here and there...

Thanks all,
De

I haven't found much difference between any of the batches and I use it all the time. Now I think I may be missing something, but honestly, I see little difference in the beads I make now and the beads I made then.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't pay more for the original-batch Aurae than I would for any other batch. There may be minor differences between batches, but none that would in my mind justify paying more for the original batch than any of the subsequent batches.

Hey De- I'll buy it or trade you something for it. I have lots of stuff including silvers, I could even make up a sampler of silvers. Liz

Thanks for your replies Carolyn, Kim and Elizabeth! Just to clarify, and since I've not even tried it yet, I'm really not sure what (if any) the definite differences are or whether it depends more on user, torch, application, etc. I'm just sort of getting a feel based on some of the things I've seen posted... if it would do just a wee bit better if I put it on eBay.

And thanks Elizabeth for your trade offer but I think I'll prolly end up just selling it outright as I have some obligations to meet, but I appreciate it

De

I agree with the others, De. If it's just a slight fluctuation in the rod color (either from batch to batch or within the same pull), it probably won't go for a higher value since it is still in the regular production line up of DH.

I also agree with the masses. Unless or until there's a distinct difference or lack of availability, it's value is unchanged. That said, sorry you have to sell it.

I have a Catt Round Tab Trio that I haven't been using recently if you want to borrow it for a while... let me know.

Aw, thanks - but I must have been having a "burned out brain light bulb" day yesterday, as I finally recalled that I have a Zoozii's Shape Plate in this design (Tab Trio) and because I have the whole set (words, etc.) in a separate "case" and don't use it much, I had totally forgotten it was there

Doh!!! I appreciate the offer, though. Looks like the consensus so far it's "it is what it is" on the Aurae and I'll probably be putting it for sale at the same price or maybe a few bucks more for those who really, really want that first-round-color!

Thanks all!
De

I've been vacillating between Butterflies and Skulls in my beads these last couple of weeks, and decided to change up my signature a bit just for fun! I figured out how to make a banner for my Etsy, and used a snap shot of material I bought for curtains in my kitchen...hence the skully thing going on. I was met with strange looks and few words when I showed everyone my "find" from JoAnn Fabric so I went with large Polka Dots - at least until we get the house appraised for our refinance

I'll probably go back to the little bee in a few months, but I was pretty proud of how my banner turned out, so I decided to stick it here and get it some exposure
