Sandblasting piece
Hey Ya'll,
I made the horse pendant as a gift and I made this horse specifically to sandblast thats why I used white encased in clear. In my mind I think this would look really cool sandblasted but honestly I don't know, and have never etching any glass before.
I don't want to ruin a perfectly good horse, but in the same sense it feels unfinished. I was going to try a couple of orphan pendant in the sandblaster before I put this in there. Is there any problems some of you more experienced artist can advise me while working it?
And what do ya'll think, will it look better etched, or left glossy?

Do it up! Looks great btw but that satin finish should look gorgeous!

If you don't like it when finished couldn't you flame polish it back glossy?

I wouldn't flame polish after sandblasting because of all the small scratches that sand blasting leaves would just bubble up, not to mention all the impurities that would be trap will scum up the surface. Don't do it!

I'm not really happy with the sandblasting effect I got. I think the transparency of the clear glass actually help set it off. Just have never seen a matted horse before. Well, What do y'all think after comparing the before and after? Should I try to sandblast it some more?

hmm, I'm surprised how light the mane turned, more contrast would be nice. Don't see what you have to lose. Nice shape, BTW.

I like it! Now polish the eye and some highlights in the mane back to shiny.

Is there a cold-working technique to polish it? I want to avoid putting it back in the flame if possible.

I think it looks great, I would call 'ghost whisper' and not change a thing.

Huh, I'm surprised at myself. I usually like the shiny over matted but I really like the look of that horse after you sandblasted it. I wouldn't change a thing.
It's a lovely gift.

I like it but I have to agree with bringing some of the black back. Needs a little more contrast. Very nice piece, well done!
