Default pulling ribbon through bead

HOW in the world do you guys pull the ribbon through the beads? I tried and wanted to double it up, but of course ripped the ends!!!

Any tips or tricks?

Larger mandrels help when making beads going on ribbons but you can use a needle to thread the ribbon through or push it through with a smaller diameter mandrel.

I take about 6 inches of beading wire and fold it in half and stick the fold through the bead. When it comes out the other end you can thread the ribbon through the end like the wire was the eye of a needle, and then pull the wire back out - pulling the cord with it. I think you can probably figure out how this will double the cord for you.

What sort of ribbon or chord do you guys use? I keep poking around craft stores, but nothing is really jumping out as being right. I'd love to find something sort of generic that I could have on hand to give out with pendants and such at craft shows.

I just take a thick strong thread and needle, pass it through the end of the ribbon a couple of times, double it back and pass the needle through the bead, then pull gently.

No needles needed. Cut the very end of the ribbon (about 1/2" or more) on a sharp angle to create a long skinny pointed (tapered) end. Stick the sharp skinny end through the hole in the bead and pull through.

I like and use a needle and thread method, quick and easy. Thread the needle, pull thread down until you have two lengths, hold both threads together and tie an overhand knot. Clip the thread about 1/4 inch under the knot. Pass your needle with doubled thread through the ribbon and then pass it between the two threads under the knot you tied, that will form a loop from the place where the needle passed through to the end of the ribbon. Pull through the bead. Clip the thread. It pulls right off without leaving thread, knots, or damaging the ribbon.

It's an old school method for pulling elastic through a casing in sewing.

Fishing line, looped like a needle threader, pull. Done.
