Bullseye pack!
ETA: NEver mind, the site was down last night, but it's up now.
I got my glass today! *does a happy glass day dance*
Included was a thin tube with ... I think they're called swizzle sticks? Looks like thin strips of dichroic (sp?) glass.
How do I use these? make a base bead and then just wrap this around it?
Also, I don't know what ANY of them are called. The little page with it says the package includes french vanilla, stiff black, crystal clear and swizzle sticks. I know there's a chart somewhere, but I googled Bullseye, and for some reason I just can't find it.
(there's a bunch of clear rods, and a bunch of BARELY BARELY yellow transparent rods.. until I put them beside a clear rod, I thought they were clear)
Anyhow, I can't wait to dive in!
And Congrats to the "System", only 2 rods were broken, and only on the ends, so most of the glass is useable.

Elly, There are two good sites to look at the BE colors.
Go to the Bullseye site www.bullseyeconnection.com and find the BE catalog
or
www.bridgetownglass.com (Kalera's site is really good)
Your sizzle sticks are indeed dichro. Use them the same way you use your rods. Just keep the dichro coated side out of the direct flame by melting dichro side down onto the bead surface with the clear side toward the torch. Work it slowly and farther out in the flame to keep it cool so you don't burn off your dichro coating.

I'll bring them to the studio this weekend, and try each one out, starting with the "What the heck will this turn into!?" colours.

here is the complete listing of the colors along with pics:
http://www.bullseyeglass.com/pdfs/rod_2005_flyer.pdf
If your rods are not labeled, you must have gotten the 5 lb sample pack - if it was the studio pack with every color they should have been labeled. Are they labeled with numbers and not colors? is that it?
If you have a lot of "clear", be careful - I once encased a bead with a red striker

Thanks! It's so tough to loko at a rod and then your screen and say "yep, that's it".
It was the 5lb sample pack.
ENough to give me a taste.
I'll just spend the weekend makign spacers with the questionable ones.

My studio pack came all unlabeled. Pissed me off.. which is exactly why my Bullseye is still not labeled

Your barely yellow rod is probably "yellow tint". I love the tints....so soft and pretty! The sizzle sticks can be used just as you said but encase the bead or just the sizzle part to make it pop. If the sizzle sticks are on a clear base, rather than black, be sure to apply dichroic side up and be careful not to burn off the surface. You may know this already.
I love BE!!!!

Pat's comment about the clear sizzle stick reminds me of another thing... If the sizzle stick is on a black base, heat the uncoated tip of the stick and tack it to the back side of the bead (the bead surface facing AWAY from you and the torch). Wrap by spinning the bead forward, keeping the back of the sizzle stick in the flame. You kind of have to work the black sizzle sticks backwards from the way you work the clear based sticks.

Elly, if you want more Bullseye, I can send you some samples. I've tried to like it but it just doesn't do it for me. Also, it's cheaper to buy from Canadian distributors and now Nortel has ASK colours I'm a happy camper!
