104 Tubing

I was wondering if any of you guys have tried working with the 104coe tubing before. The only place I've seen that actually sells it is Devardi, but it's easy enough to trap a bubble and pull it. All of the tube implosion techniques are using boro, for me at least, that presents a kind of challenge to maybe try some of them with 104 tubing to see if it's even possible or not. What say you Lampwork Etc.?

That's awesome, I can't imagine what kind of chandelier that would have been.
May have to grab some of that, looks thin but considering the alternative is Devardi or nada. I've heard so many bad things about Devardi that I've not ordered anything from them, their tool selection is pretty impressive though. I can't be the only one to want to try 104 tubing techniques, wonder if anybody else has already beat me to it?

I haven't tried 104 but just recently got a lesson with 90 points for ornaments. With all your years in glass it would be a snap to pull a point and add frit or stringers for decoration and then blow them out.

I've also used the points for ornaments (glaskolben, I think) for various experiments. You can definitely make implosions, I've made imploded flower marbles with them. Just remember that the glaskolben are around 90coe so you need Bullseye glass (or similar) to work with it.

Would it be hard to make ones own tubing by rubber banding some 104 rod around a graphite rod?

The problem with that is that graphite doesn't stand up to prolonged exposure to the flame. By the time you got your rods hot enough to flow you'd have ruined your graphite. Much easier to make a gather on a blow tube and blow out your own tubing. Not as consistent as the commercial stuff but totally doable.
