Studio help!!!
I live in Dallas and have been trying to work in my garage. I can't seem to make it work very well. There's never enough real light and it's either too hot and humid, too windy or too cold. I used to work inside in our other house. I had lots of windows and a tile floor and good ventilation. My only option for working inside here has a hardwood floor. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can cover the floor and make it safe? All of the indoor floors are wood.

Put tile down on a large piece of plywood for under torch area, this way you would not be putting holes in hardwood floors.

Or cement board....
Then place a layer of 12 x 12 inch or so tile on top. Cement board by itself will not take long time abuse of a chair rolling over it. i.e. surface will break down over time. The tile acts as a good protection.
Home Depot and Lowes both have discounted tile for under a dollar per piece. Often in the 69 cents range. Or try the rehab store and perhaps Craig's List for odds and ends.

Thanks everybody!!! All of those ideas are great and I will be able to do them. I just couldn't think of the best way. Brilliant!!I will pick one and begin. I'm so happy that I can be in the "light" again and with air.
