I bought some soiva clear from Italy from a bulk buy, it is by far the best clear I have ever worked with. I think it was Andrea Symons that did the bulk buy, it was years ago but I would dearly love to get some more if I can find her!

Double Hellix for all my non etched work, I've found it's the only clear that will truly give you a flawless result.

Morretti super clear for etched beads, and even then I have to constantly remove all the scum bits while i work.

I just recently tried Double Helix Zephyr, I love it, it made a world of difference in my silver glass beads. I use Moretti super clear for beads without silver glass.

Default moretti clear vs super clear...

hey team.... only been torchin for a few months, and i just bought a boatload of glass from devardi. but their clear sucks, so i'm going back to franz for that.

my question is - i randomly got a rod of regular clear last time i bought from franz, and when i made a pendant with it, and lined it up next to one with the super clear, neither myself, or 3 of my buddies, could tell the difference...

it's only like 8$ for clear, or 9.50$ for super - but you guys are paying 30-45$/lb? in the name of all that's holy - please tell me what makes that expensive stuff worth 4x as much? i cant' even tell the difference between regular and super - and it looks awesome.

I use Devardi clear for the initial bead wrap. Super stiff and works for me.

For the "outside", I'll choose from either DH, Lauscha or Effetre clears.
Which one?
Depends on the project and the other glass I'm using.

DH & Lauscha are buttery-dreamy-goodness and my go-to for intricate encasing projects. Melts & flows wonderfully.

Effetre is stiffer... but my go-to for "regular' work. However, even after pickling I still get scum trails that I don't when using the *expensive stuff*. Granted, the fatter the rod, the better.
